Residential Child Care Worker

Salary: £29,865.40 – £31,192.40 (This salary includes an average of 10 sleep-ins per month)

£55 paid per sleep-in carried out.

Overtime rate: £14.31 – £15.11 p.h.

Bank Holiday rate: £17.18 – £18.14 p.h.

Hours: 40 hours per week

Rota Pattern: 5-week rolling rota. 2 days on shift and 3 days off pattern

  • Total add on’s to salary (bonuses):
  • – Attendance bonus: £500 for 12 months of no sickness. £250 for 6 months of no sickness.
  • -Ofsted bonus: £100 for a good rating. £200 for outstanding rating per year.
  • -Refer a friend scheme: Earn up to £400! £100 when they start with us, £100 when they stay with us for 3 months and £200 when the friend passes their probation period.
  • Total= £1,000
  • 20 days annual leave + 8 days public holidays (this will increase after 3 & 5 years completed employment with Northridge Care group.

Northridge Care Group is a private organisation that offers high quality residential care for children and young people with complex needs associated with challenging behaviour. We are looking to recruit enthusiastic support workers who can be part of a team who can offer care and support to the young people in our care.

JOB TITLE: Residential Child Care Worker – Preferably a driver. (for the role of RCCW experience and qualification are not necessary – if you’re a naturally caring, motivated and want to make a difference to children’s lives, we’d love to hear from you).

REPORTING TO: Registered Manager.

JOB PURPOSE:

To work as a member of the team in the provision of care and support services for people with behaviours that may challenge; which aims to maximise the potential of individuals in line with ordinary life principles.

May be required to take charge of the service in absence of the Seniors and Managers.

SKILLS / ABILITIES

Required:

  • Proven ability to work on own initiative and work as part of a team
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues relating to people with emotional & challenging behaviours & learning difficulties.
  • A commitment to a service which provides support to vulnerable individuals, and which is respectful and according to the individuals’ wishes
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to communicate effectively with young people, colleagues, family members, Managers and other persons with a legitimate interest in the project
  • Commitment to training and development

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Care:

  1. Assist the Senior/Managers in the implementation of the philosophies and policies of the organisation.
  2. Assist the Senior/Managers in ensuring that each young person has their needs met through effective assessment and care planning. Review and monitor care plans/contribute to review reports as directed
  3. Support and participate in young people’s social, life-long learning plans and recreational activities in line with care plans, trips out and holidays.
  4. Act as a Key worker to specified individual young person, taking on responsibility for specified areas of care and support. This includes ensuring all medical needs are met and supporting the young person to advocate his/her own needs and wishes.
  5.  Facilitate and support young people in decision making. Promote choice and involvement.
  6. Ensure all Staff Members work in a way that demonstrates an understanding and commitment to the rights of people with emotional & challenging behaviours and / or learning difficulties.
  7. Consistently apply strategies developed in response to challenging behaviours and contribute to the review and development of any such strategies.
  8. Encourage young people to maintain acceptable levels of personal and environmental hygiene.
  9. Record information about young people and ensure communication with Staff Members.
  10. Once trained, administer medication (if applicable) in accordance with Company policies and procedures, and ensure that medical emergencies are dealt with appropriately. Always adhere to the Company’s medication policy.
  11.  Ensure that young peoples’ personal property and clothing is maintained to a high standard and report any requirements to the Senior/Managers.
  12.  Promote good practice in the team in accordance with ordinary life principles, and in line with all Company policies and procedures.
  13.  Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with young peoples’ personal and financial affairs and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with young people.

Communication:

  1. Participate in Staff and young peoples’ meetings as and when required. Maintain appropriate records as directed

Training and Development:

  1.  Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
  2.  Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.

Health & Safety:

  1.  Report immediately to the Senior/Managers, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a young person, colleague, self, or another.
  2.  Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the Northridge Care Group Ltd Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures. Follow and undertake risk assessments
  3.  Report to the Senior/Managers and the Handyperson, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment, or any potential hazard.
  4.  Promote safe working practice within Northridge Care Group.

General:

  1. Assist in maintaining financial records in line with Company policies and procedures.
  2. Assist the Senior/Managers in reviews of service delivery standards, and in developing best policy and practice that meets young person’s needs. Undertake monthly quality audit on specific services
  3. Carry out administrative tasks as and when required.
  4. Make Visitors feel welcome. Provide refreshments/assistance as and when required.
  5.  Promote and ensure the good reputation of Northridge Care Group Limited.
  6. Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties as stated in the confidentiality policy and Data protection policy.
  7.  Notify the On Call / Senior / Managers, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty.
  8.  Ensure the security of Northridge Care Group Ltd.’s houses is maintained at all times.
  9. Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
  10. Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
  11. Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
